The Challenge of Leadership in a Globalized World Today’s leaders are grappling with multidimensional problems that require fast learning from all the potential disciplines. The Fezembat Group has been involved in a project with one of our clients, where we seek to learn from the experience of leaders of cities over the ages—from medieval to modern times. The project particularly considers the experience of “failed cities” to extract lessons for leaders in other spheres of practice. Cities and particularly “failed cities” are the equivalent of the “fruit fly” on the question of the effects of globalization on company or country performance. This is because cities see the effects of policy much faster and are also the first ports of call for many of the tectonic shifts that accompany globalization. The project outcomes will be used as advisory modules to enhance the performance of the leadership teams of our clients. A summary version of the project will be presented in this space at the end of June.
